ARCTIC CIRCLE EXPEDITION - JANUARY 2019
ARCTIC CIRCLE EXPEDITION - January 2020
After 1-2 days of training at our kennel, where you will learn the basic skills required to drive your own sleddog team, care for the dogs in camp and on the trail and ensure you are fit and healthy to go into the wilderness, you will then embark on the expedition as a group. Traveling with 6-8 dogs per team, you will drive our super friendly huskies across a variety of Arctic, mountainous, tundra, frozen lake and river and Lapland Forest terrain, depending on which Expedition you join. Each expedition will travel long distances each day, through the spectacular scenery of Arctic Lapland. If Aurora Borealis is predicted, some night dogsledding will be organised. Evenings will be spent caring for the dogs first and foremost, setting up camp and then enjoying a warm expedition meal with good company, sharing your stories after an exciting day sledding through the snow.
These Expeditions are for Adventurers looking for more than a tourist trip. Applications are for team member places, where you will be selected based on the skills and experience you bring to the team. That does not have to be sleddog experience, as the team leader will teach you what you need to know before setting off. Other skills past team members have brought are: Other expedition, endurance or winter sports experience, wild camping, snow and ice skills, wilderness cooking, firelighting, first aid, navigation, rope skills, photography and journalism. If you have any of these skills and are keen to join a challenging winter Expedition with sleddogs, we encourage you to apply.
Past team members have gone onto join Antarctic Expeditions, climb some of the Worlds highest peaks, join the Marines, become Expedition Guides, start their own Adventure company and get a place at Vet School.
